Mavic Cabrera-Balleza is a feminist activist from the Philippines who has worked mainly on media, information and communication issues and how they impact on women. She has been active in lobbying, and advocacy work at the national, regional and international levels to effect change on policies that concern women, media, and the information and communication technologies. She has produced radio programs and other broadcast materials for community radios, as well as government and private commercial radios. She also edits and writes for a number of international publications. Mavic co-coordinated the work of the NGO Gender Strategies Working Group during the first phase of the World Summit on the Information Society. She was also active in the Community Media Working Group during WSIS.

Mavic is a Senior Programme Associate of the International Women’s Tribune Centre. She is also the Vice President of AMARC (World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters). Concurrently, she is a member of the Steering Committee of the Working Group on Gender Issues of the International Telecommunication Union. She is also a member of the Asian Communication Network. Prior to her current post, Mavic was the Programme Manager for Media, Information, and Communication Services at Isis International-Manila.
