Marcelo D’Elia Branco
Marcelo D’Elia Branco has worked in the area of information technologies for 25 years and is currently consultant in technologies for the information society. He has just completed a mission for the Brazil’s Presidential Office aimed at encouraging the involvement of the civil society in establishing information society policy. He is also Coordinator for the Brazil Free Software Project (http://www.softwarelivre.org), Honorary Professor at CEVATEC, the Higher Institute for Technology in Lima, Peru, and member of the Scientific Council for the international programme for university studies in free software at the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) in Spain. He was responsible for the creation of the Telecommunications Department at the Porto Alegre Town Hall and has held a number of management positions in the Rio Grande do Sul State administration, always in areas relating to access to free software.
