Seán Ó Siochrú has over twenty years experience of international communications and media assessment, and local development activities. Recent assignments include: the Final Evaluation of InfoTuk Programme (Information Sharing in Turkmenistan for Sustainable Human Development), UNDP, 2004; Team Leader, Final Global Evaluation: Sustainable Development Networking Programme, UNDP, 2003. In the 1990’s he played a key role in evaluating the EU’s STAR and Telematique Programmes (between them spending 2 billion ecu on telecommunications), and has directed projects for European Union Directorates General V, XII, XIII, XVI, and XXIII.
He was Secretary General and Treasurer (past Vice-Chair) of the “MacBride Round Table on Communications”, which debates global communications issues. His primary degree is from Trinity College Dublin, (Irlande) and he has completed postgraduate degrees in Canada and Cork.<
