Alain Ambrosi

Alain Ambrosi is currently Director of the Carrefour Mondial de l’Internet Citoyen (World Forum on Community Networking) which was responsible for the GlobalCN Conference in Montreal in 2002. He has worked for many years in international cooperation with NGOs, governments and multilateral agencies in the field of communications for development. As an independent researcher and consultant, he has written numerous articles and has published books in many languages. He has also produced and directed documentary films on several continents.

His interests and militant activities over the last ten years have focused on creating networks for civil society organizations in the area of democratic communication. Former Director of the Canadian Overseas University Service and co-founder of the NGOs Video-Tiers Monde and Vidéazimut, he has participated in numerous international “networks of networks” for practitioners and researchers (including the London Platform, Voices 21, the MacBride Round Table, CRIS) since 1995. He is a member of the Global CN Partnership since Barcelona 2000 and has organized international meetings on every continent. In 1998, he organized the virtual conference on “The right to communicate” for Vidéazimut.
